Solar Shines Over Over!

Thanks to support from South Cambridgeshire District Council Zero Carbon Communities, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, District Councillors and Over Parish Council – Over Community Association (O.C.A.), the charity arm of Over Community Centre – has secured a grant to install Solar PV panels to our roof.
Through this grant we will reduce the Community Centres carbon footprint by an estimated 9,320 kg CO2/ year (9.32 metric tons/year), offset energy costs by producing clean, renewable energy onsite and reduce our energy expenditure enabling funds to be redirected to other essential expenditure.
We are working to with our appointed contractor to have the panels installed as soon as possible to take maximum advantage of the good weather. Keep an eye on our social media for updates.
Thank you to everyone who completed our survey that we had to submit to support our application, some of the feedback shown below.
“We have to help ensure the Centre is around as its a great local asset and we all need to reduce our carbon emmisions.”
“The community centre is so important for our community. Its a hub for so many people and groups. I believe solar panels would be future proofing it financially. But it would also be leading by example in a world that needs to be greener for our future generations.”
“The centre is extremely popular and having a renewable energy source would benefit massively”
“The community centre is vital for our village, its a great hub for sports, mothers, the elderly and just in general a great venue. If these solar panels help it stay open then I support it fully.”
